Messianic Life Discipleship

Discipleship is ZCC’s conerstone. ZCC has been called to disciple making. Messianic Life Discipleship is a Christ-centered disciple-making ministry. It grows Believers to proclaim Jesus and present everyone mature in Him (Colossians 1:28-29). Messianic Life Discipleship is walking as Jesus walked (1 John 2:6); following in His footsteps and making Him your MODEL (1 Peter 2:21). It is multiplying the life of Jesus among the Saints (LUKE 10:1-3).

What is the Mission of Messianic Life Discipleship

Messianic Life Discipleship’s mission is to make Messianic Disciples to go and make Disciples of Jesus. Messianic Life Discipleship is modeled after Jesus’ disciple-making strategy and principles in the Gospels: Come, Follow Me (Matthew 4:19); Be with Me (Mark 3:13-14); Remain in Me (John 15:4-5); Go to the Nations (Matthew 28:18-20):  It is a course of agape love, teaching, communion with Jesus and harvesting souls with the Holy Spirit – making disciples the way Jesus did.

What is Messianic Life

Messianic Life is life-long, daily obedience and absolute commitment to living the values, character and truths of the Messiah (Luke 9:23). It is loving Jesus more, and prioritizing Him before your family, your own life and possessions (Luke 14:26,33). It is abiding in Christ and Christ abiding in you (John 15:4-6). Messianic Life is adhering steadfastly and obediently to the teachings of Jesus Christ (John 8:31-32) and living on every Word that proceeds from the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4). It is living for Christ (2 Corinthians 5:15) and being crucified with Him (Galatians 2:20), through a life-style of bearing your cross daily (Luke 14:27) – that is living by the example of the Messiah.

Call to Discipleship not Christianity

Jesus calls all Believers to Discipleship not “Christianity” (Matthew 28:19-20). Before Antioch, the “followers” of Christ were called Disciples not Christians. In these contemporary times, most Believers see themselves as Christians (followers of Jesus), not as Disciples (imitators of Jesus).

There is a vast distinction between a Disciple and a Christian as far as ZCC is concerned. While Disciples imitate Jesus, bearing their cross in absolute obedience, seeking spiritual maturity and eternal life, Christians “follow” Jesus at their own convenience and terms, for absolute comfort and material gain (John 6:2). While Disciples are obliged to “GO”, under the weight of the cross (Luke 9:23; 14:27) and make Disciples, Christians – like some of the multitudes that moved around with Jesus –FOLLOW Jesus consistently for the takeaways, signs and wonders that He offers, without which they turn away (John 6:54, 60,66). While Disciples seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33), Christians seek first the kingdoms of the world and their goodies (Matthew 4:8,9).
